Anything to Declare?-Monday 24th of July 2006 10:55:23A North Yorkshire antiques and furniture retailer is declaring a tape measure amnesty for the month of August! It comes as staff at Simply Dutch in Leeming Bar have realised that in the last few years over three thousand tape measures have gone missing from the company’s showroom. Now customers are being invited to return the much-needed tape measures without fear of reprisals! And for every tape measure returned to the store staff at Simply Dutch will make a £5 donation to the Alzheimer’s Society. Jason Hadlow, proprietor of Simply Dutch, explained: “This year we’re celebrating ten years in business and naturally we’ve been looking at our books and making exciting plans for the future. However it occurred to us that we constantly seem to be running out of tape measures, which are essential for the nature of our business both in the showrooms and for our workshop team. “Unlike many of the popular High Street furniture retailers we provide our customers with good quality, old-fashioned, metal tape measures instead of paper or plastic ones. “We only decided to declare an amnesty after a couple of very honest customers returned tape measures when they were passing by. So if anyone does have one of our tape measures, we would be thrilled if you could return them! And as an extra incentive we’ll be making a donation to a local charity for every tape measure that is returned so there is the potential to raise a lot of money for a good cause too.” Simply Dutch is one of the UK’s leading antiques and furniture emporiums specialising in Dutch pine furniture. Jason Hadlow took over the company in 2004 and still employs some of the original founder’s family. Jason has recently extended the business to include an interior designer, a sports massage clinic and an antique fireplace specialist. Simply Dutch currently employs a team of five and Jason now plans to introduce new services to the 30,000 square feet showroom in the coming twelve months.
