A new, rural business in North Yorkshire is exceeding all expectations just six months after its launch.

The Introduction Company, which was established by Lesley Brewer earlier this year, aims to introduce single men and women to likeminded partners. However, unlike many dating agencies, Lesley operates on her own from a private office in Brawby, near Malton in North Yorkshire.

The company launched with just a handful of people on its books but- thanks to Lesley’s skill and growing reputation as North Yorkshire’s leading matchmaker- The Introduction Company now has over one hundred men and women looking for a prospective partner.

A former company secretary and college mentor, Lesley- who has herself been married for over twenty five years- decided to set up her business after successfully introducing several friends to long term partners. Also, having lived in the countryside all of her life, Lesley recognised a niche in the market as opportunities to meet new people in rural locations can be limited.

Lesley, a member of Women in Rural Enterprise (WIRE) explained: “There is a very real need for what I am doing which is illustrated by the overwhelming success of my first six months. I carried out some research before setting up The Introduction Company by speaking to widowed, divorced and general single people and discovered that there are very few places to go to meet a prospective partner in a comfortable environment.

“I run the business alone as my emphasis is always on being able to offer a personal touch to make the whole experience enjoyable and so that people don’t feel daunted. In addition I have a private office in a quiet village and I would never publish any client’s details on a website or in a newspaper, which is quite unusual these days.”

The Introduction Company operates a strict security checking process with everyone who registers to ensure all clients are well looked after. The ages of those registering range from late twenties to people in their late seventies.

Lesley added: “I want to introduce respectable, genuine and sincere people to each other and confidentiality and feeling secure are of utmost importance. Hence The Introduction Company is so far proving to be a real winner for all concerned. I even have ten couples who are now in established relationships which I am thrilled about after only six months.”
